FULL STORY
Heidelberg will present Prinect Inpress Control for the first time at Ipex. This is an inline colourimeter that measures the colour and register in the colour control bar while the press is running. The product presented will be a pre-series version. The new system significantly reduces press downtimes since there is no need to halt the machine during the measuring process and the register can be checked and adjusted online. Prinect Inpress Control will only be available for the Speedmaster CD 74 and Speedmaster XL 105 press series. It will be introduced to the market in stages in late 2006 and mid 2007.
‘With Prinect Inpress Control, Heidelberg has developed a spectrophotometric inline colour measuring system specifically for standardized printshops that change jobs frequently. By using the new system, printshops with this business model can increase their productivity and quality while also cutting costs,’ said Dr. Jürgen Rautert, management board member for Engineering and Manufacturing at Heidelberg, outlining the advantages.
Prinect Inpress Control: Colour measurement on the fly is highly cost-efficient A spectrophotometric measuring device in the last printing unit – or also in the unit before the perfecting unit in the case of perfecting presses – measures colours in the colour control bar while the press is running. The system continuously transfers any corrections directly to the Prinect CP2000 Center press control system to enable adjustment of the ink zones.
The printer no longer has to halt the press during makeready or when monitoring the production run. This allows fast setup times and highly consistent and stable inking throughout the run.
The advantages of Inpress Control at a glance: - Quicker inking-up and less waste: Setup and inking adjustments on the fly – without sheet pulling - Precise colour matching for CMYK and special colours through spectral inline measurement - Consistent print quality enabled by continuous production run monitoring leads to increased customer loyalty - No need for extra register adjustment thanks to automatic register control and adjustment in parallel to colour measurement - Flexible mounting using smaller control colour control bar and variable positioning of the quality control strip from the front edge of the sheet to its center - Touchscreen control on the Prinect CP2000 Center saves time for the printer
The ideal measuring device whatever the challenge: An overview of the Prinect measuring and control systems from Heidelberg All the measuring systems offered by Heidelberg use spectrophotometry and are connected online to the press control system. All ink zones are adjusted in real time immediately after the measuring process. The colours are measured spectrophotometrically and the ink zone adjustment is determined colourimetrically. This means special colours can be adjusted just as precisely as process colours (CMYK). All the devices show the densities and tonal values as well as the L*a*b* colour values and the colour differences in the customary manner. Quality control strips for all press formats and various application procedures are included in the scope of delivery.
Prinect Axis Control: The entry-level measuring device for fast measuring and control of process and special colours Prinect Axis Control is a single-headed measuring device integrated in the control point of the press’s Prinect CP2000 Center. It has been designed as an entry-level unit for printers who want to measure and control special colours as quickly and easily as process colours (CMYK). Prinect Axis Control measures the colour values in the quality control strip and then adjusts the colour online for up to eight printing units. Prinect Axis Control is available for the Speedmaster SM 52, SM/CD 74, SM/CD 102 and XL 105 presses.
Prinect Inpress Control: Inline colour measurement maximises productivity for printshops with standardized printing procedures and frequent job changes The Prinect Inpress Control system, which is integrated in the press, measures the colour and register in the quality control strip on the fly. It has been specially designed for printers who change jobs frequently and use standardised printing procedures. Prinect Inpress Control maximizes productivity because there is no need to halt the machine during the measuring process and the register can be checked and adjusted online.
Prinect Image Control: The high-end solution for printshops in the quality sector Prinect Image Control is the perfect spectrophotometric measuring and control system for high-quality print jobs. When it comes to providing maximum quality, workflow integration and colour stability across the entire print image, it is the ideal solution. Prinect Image Control monitors the colour control of up to fourSpeedmaster presses of all format classes. And spectrophotometric image measurement is not confined to the quality control strip – it records all the image data for a print sheet in a single measuring operation. As a result of its ability to read spectrophotometric data, Prinect Image Control is ideally suited for colour management and automated process control using the Mini Spots technology from Heidelberg.
