Megtec Systems announced the launch of its new generation of web stabilisers with Step-Foil technology at Ipex last month and exhibited as part of the PrintCity Alliance in Hall 17.
Colour density measurement, wide web and fast presses generally require a very stable web after the last printing unit of a commercial web press.
‘The Step-Foil’ provides a very powerful web stabilisation and eliminates blanket follow (whip) and web flutter in a spectacular way. It has much greater efficiency and effectiveness than traditional opposing stabilisation air bars’ said Colin Morris, director of sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa of Megtec's Printing Products Group. ‘The Air-Foil affect creates a strong, stable force which holds the web firmly and flat, close to the foil surface. It is without doubt the best available web stabilisation technology’.
The Megtec web stabiliser prevents the web from touching the web catcher before entering into the dryer to prevent unnecessary press stops / restarts. It also provides a very stable web entry to the dryer avoiding the web touching at the inlet. The enhanced web stability also allows the dryer inlet seal to be reduced thus minimising cold air entry to help prevent tar formation and importantly, reduce dryer gas energy consumption while having only very low electrical consumption. Once installed, no adjustment by the operator is necessary. It starts automatically with the press.
The Megtec web stabiliser with Step-Foil technology is available in all typical web widths for all press speeds and does not require extra space. It can easily be retrofitted.
Megtec Systems is the largest independent supplier of pasters and splicers, dryers and related equipment to the newspaper and commercial printing industries.
