Bytes concludes the acquisition of NOR Paper

FULL STORY
Bytes Document Solutions, a Bytes Technology group company, wholly owned by Altron, and the authorised distributor of Xerox products and solutions to 24 African countries, has concluded the acquisition of NOR Paper Cape Town and NOR Paper Johannesburg. Through this acquisition, the company aims to add R1,5 billion to its revenue stream during the next five years.

Said Bytes Document Solutions MD Rob Abraham (pictured), 'The acquisition of NOR Paper will complement the activities of our Production Systems Group. We already conduct a significant paper merchant business that is focused on the office printer market place. The supply of paper products in support of our equipment in the field is part of our overall strategy.'

Abraham added that NOR Paper is a perfect complement to the company’s production systems to supply the print-for-pay market, which represents a large and rapidly growing percentage of Bytes Document Solutions’ business.

'This is a strategic step as it allows us to be an even better partner to commercial printers. We will make no changes to the NOR operations as they have satisfied customers, both companies are well led, they produce good financial results and we want them to be a part of our world,' added Abraham.

'NOR Paper’s differentiator is critical in this deadline-driven industry,' said Raymond Blake, MD of NOR Paper Johannesburg.

'As part of the Bytes Technology Group, we can leverage the investment to replicate our Johannesburg success to the KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and ultimately all regions of South Africa,' said Steve Norsworthy, MD of NOR Paper Cape Town.

He added that being part of a strong BEE group will provide new sales opportunities. 'Bytes Document Solutions is a highly visible company that shares our values and customer focus, with well known products and top-notch suppliers.'

Both Norsworthy and Blake, along with the rest of the NOR Paper employees and operations, remain in place following the acquisition.

NOR Paper started as a privately held, Cape Town-based business in 1974. Today, it turns over in excess of R250 million and supplies a vast range of papers that include commercial coated art papers, uncoated papers, general stationery grades, and carbonless papers with over 30 different grades in the range. The business differentiates itself in a competitive market by converting sheet paper to any size that customers require and expediting rapid delivery by following its just-in-time methodology.
